The Liceu Opera Barcelona opens its season with Shirin Neshat’s presentation of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera *Aida*.
Originally created for the Salzburg Festival, the production places Verdi’s drama in a universe of symbolic force. Neshat’s vision transforms *Aida* into a reflection of the present, engaging with contemporary tensions surrounding identity, exile, oppression and the fragility of power.
Performances run through October 15, 2026.
