Letzter Geist [Last Ghost] is a new work by Thomas Schütte. Schütte began making Geister, [spirit or ghost], in 1995, the figures, small, two-legged, earthbound beings firmly rooted to the ground, evolved over time into monumental forms. This most recent iteration takes on an even more abstract form, with the figure coiling into itself, appearing to reach–or be drawn–upward toward the sky. Letzter Geist will remain on view through Schütte’s forthcoming exhibition opening next month at our Paris gallery. In collaboration with the domaine national du Palais-Royal – Centre des monuments nationaux.
