Tesfaye Urgessa: The Lingering Departure

Tesfaye Urgessa’s figurative paintings draw viewers into oneiric scenarios where distinctions of place and time appear to fold into one another. Recurring limbs, heads and torsos speak to forms of geographic and psychic dislocation, as well as the shifting construction of identity that movement between places can engender.
