Tom Sachs: “31 Rue Cambon”

Now open in New York, 31 Rue Cambon transforms Tom Sachs’s long-time SoHo studio into a fully immersive Chanel boutique, populated by hand-fabricated re-creations of the house’s iconic suits, accessories, furnishings, jewellery, packaging and retail displays.

Constructed from found materials including plywood, acrylic, cardboard and tape, the installation draws on the ethics of bricolage—the French concept of creating and solving problems using readily available, often repurposed or borrowed materials. 31 Rue Cambon reimagines one of fashion’s most recognisable brands as a meditation on authorship, value, labour, envy and the cultural machinery of luxury.

On view until 10 October 2026.
