Dora Jeridi’s debut solo exhibition with Boesky Gallery, A Burnt Child Loves the Fire, is on view in New York through October 17, 2026.

Drawing on memory and cultural heritage, Jeridi examines the intricacies and anxieties of human relationships. Her large-scale paintings layer different modes of mark-making to create theatrical settings that explore the drama and tragedy of human experience.

The new works present refined domestic interiors loosely inspired by the artist’s memories of her grandmother’s Parisian home, furnished with leather sofas, wooden dining sets and framed oil portraits. These scenes are disrupted by art historical quotations, including Picasso’s Guernica (1937) horse head, alongside drapery, cross-hatching and tar-like black.
